Johanna - Life in Motion

The real world - Sao Paulo (Brazil)

It happened at the hairdresser, I was in the middle of my session when this guy came in asking for a treatment to repair hair, as her wife had some accident applying chemicals to her hair, he had a sad and desparate look, as this accident was really affecting him not only economically but also emotionally -I thought, wow this guy really loves her wife that can understand how much this loss could mean to a woman- I was not even close...

After asking for a cup of water and drinking it in less than a second, the guy said:
- This is the deal, I have a gun here (holding it, but still hidding it), and this is an assault!
Saying this he took two mobiles that were in the table and left!

The whole thing might have taken 3 minutes, it was so quick that there was no time to feel fear.. only after he left, that's when you realize the danger of the scene, and thank God you are still alive and not even touched by the armed guy.

This is the first time in my life that I am in a situation like this with guns (and it DID NOT happened in Colombia!) I always wonder how would I react to this situation, my impulse was to dial the police number, only that it was too fast to reach them... I still wanted to do it when he was gone, but the ladies insisted that I should not.. well they should know better.

Funny that this happens some days after my post of arms control in Brazil (by the way the referendum was not approved, so it is still legal to keep arms with you), and at least the first thing that came to my mind was not why I did not have a gun with me, but why this guy has the right to be armed?
